Classic – Title: The call of the wild -Author: Jack London
Modern – Title: 13 Treasures -Author: Michelle Harrison
1. Describe the time and place in which your novel is set. What clues within the book tell us this?
I think that the call of the wild is based in the late 1800s early1900s because they use dogs and sleds to deliver mail and the setting is not very modern.
I think this book is set now time because the book has cars and mobile phones, the language use is more modern and it was first published in 1988.
2. Who are the main characters in your book? List the names and a short description of their personality traits.
Buck-main character- big dog second leader of the pack but wants to be leader he is kind hearted but can be agressive.Spitz- the leader of the pack is mean and agressive and loves being the leader.
Tanya- main character- Well its kinda hard to discribe tanya she is courious but also causious, she loves aventure but she gets scared
Fabin- Fabin is very smart and athletic but he is a bit nosey, he dosen't realy have any friedns he just follows tanya every where.
Warwick- Fabins dad, fixes the house. he is a big tough guy enforcing strict rules on everyone.
Florence- Tanya's grandmother and owner of the house so boss of everyone, she is not very giving and a bit tempermental
3. Describe the significant relationships between the main characters.
Buck and Spitz- Spitz is the leader of the pack but none of the dogs like him because he is meanand strong and buck especaily dislikes him becausewhen their dog team and another dog team is fighting Spitz uses that chance to fight his own team members. I'm up to the bit wher buck and spitz are about to fight and i have no idea how its going to turn out.
Tanya and Fabin- Fabin absolutely adors having Tanya around so he has someone to talto but Tanya always either pretends to be annoyem or she acctualy is annnoyed with him but i think that Tanya is acctually realy glad that Fabin is around so she is not alone and because Fabin comes up with crazy storys wich leads to adventure and keeps her mind off other things.
b4. Who is your favourite character and why? Or - Who is the in is character that you can most closely relate to and why?
My favourit character is Buck because he is a kind hearted and strong dog so he helps the side which is right and he sounds like a realy great pet.
Brunswick is my favourite character because he is sweet and kind but he is on the dak side but he can't change what he is even though he so wants to help tanya he can't because hes a goblin and when he gives tanya the littlest of detail he gets beaten which makes me sad. Brunswick is so cute because he can only talk and understand in rhymes.
5. Describe the style of language and literary devices that the author uses. a) Find examples of; colourful adjectives, similes, metaphor, dramatic irony, etc.. b) Find a quote (with page number) for each example.
A score of then at least.(2)
Or lived obscurely in the recesses of the house.(2)
palpitant(91)
sun-kissed(43)
glimmering(97)
Dramatic Irony: Spitz waits untill another dog pack attacks so instead of biting the other dog pack he bites buck.
The language used in this book is very modren and easy to understand. The book has colourful adjectives, I don't think i have come across any similes or metaphors but i could be wrong I could have read it and just not noticed.
6. Is your book an example of ‘classic’ or ‘modern’ literature? You must use evidence to back up your stance. For example; has your book stood the ‘test of time’? Are there theme’s that will transcend time?
My book is definitly an example of a classic, because it was written a long time ago it is, a well known story and if i wasn't a classic i would be very surprised because it is a very good story.
This book is an example of a modern book because it is not one of those brillant storys that will realy leave an impression and its not well known. But i reccon that this book could stand the test of time because the suspence is tremendos because you never know whats going tto happen next and its a thrilling and exciting book but at the begining it was a bit boring so it took me a while the get into it but in the end in glad i didn't give up.
7. After reading the book, write a short note to a friend describing the book. Include a description of the genre, setting and difficulty level. You need to also include the following information; What were the main themes in the book? What was the central conflict? How was it resolved? Describe your feelings towards the novel. Did you enjoy it, why or why not? Did you find it easy to get into? Did you like it the more that you read it? Would you read more books by the same author, or of a similar genre?
Dear Juliette, this is my book
Book: The Call of th Wild
Genre: Drama, Adventure
Setting: Late 1800s early 1900s in Alaska Description: Buck gets taken away from his home.He gets taken to Alaska to work as a sled dog. While he is a sled dog he experiences grife hardship and love. All while thats happening he gets calls from the wild. I found this book sometimes disturbing because of how some of the scenes are so deaply explained. This book also made me cry at some points sometime for happieness and sometimes for saddness. I enjoyed this book because it is a very good story but i found it very heart breaking! It's kind of confusing at some points but it is a realy good book!!! I would definatly read more book by Jack London or books in the same genre because it was a VERY GOOD book.

The woods are forbiden but Tanya realy wants to know whats there but once your in its almost impossibel to get out and there cataboms everywhere. She finds secrete passages in the house which leads to who knows where,This book is interesting suspenceful and exciting. and just to warn you at the begining of the book is was quite boring, i was close to giving up and putting the book down but believe me its worth it the rest of the book is brilliant. But somethimes i found the book a bit scary and i was scared to read it, at night when i usually read i couldn't beacuse the book was scary so i was a bit freaked out after i read it at night so i reccommend that you don't read it at night. This wouldn't be suitable for any readers younger than us. This book had a great story line and language use so I've got to say all in all this is a great book and I would strongly reccomend it to anybody who enjoys a good book.
London, J, 1903, The Call Of The Wild, Budget Books, Victoria AustraliaI think this book is about a dog, who has to leave the human world and become wild because his ancestors are telling him to. Other than that i have no idea what this book is about.
